"...one big scar of a love gone wrong."For me, this wasn't a book about liking a guy who hits a girl. It wasn't about her staying with him no matter what. It wasn't even about how great I found the cleverness of the author by writing the book backwards.It was simply about the brilliance of the author at being able to write such a realistic story. I could even say, my story.This book was like looking through a mirror a couple years back, on a relationship I had.The way Ann's mind starts to change and make excuses for Connor as he changes. The way she feels guilty and accountable for his reactions and his pain. The way he turns the tables on her, making her the 'bad guy' and the one at fault. The way she desperately wants to 'fix him'. And at the end. Her emptiness. The anger at her self for knowing she should leave, that she doesn't want to be in that situation anymore and yet, the longing that comes to her as she listens to his pleas and excuses. She still loves him, after everything. She still needs him. I went through it all.But in the end, she does the right thing. And I believe I did too.This was an emotional roller coaster from begining to end. And hopefully, it will give other girls a heads up if they find them selves in a similar situation. More than entertaining, this book was educational as to what goes on in the mind of an abused girl. In my humble opinion, an outstanding book.
